1 1. Type "perfmon" in the Windows search bar and open the **Performance Monitor** app.  [[image:image-20241106083317-2.png||height="323" width="398"]]
2 1. Navigate to Data Collector Sets and click on **User Defined**. [[image:image-20241106083333-3.png]]
3 1. Right-click **User Defined**, select **New**, and then choose **Data Collector Set**.[[image:image-20241106083418-4.png||height="322" width="427"]]
4 1. In the dialog box, enter "SQL Performance Baseline" as the name. Choose **Create from a template, **click **Next**.[[image:image-20241106083531-5.png||height="315" width="587"]]

6 1. Set the **Root Directory** to the desired folder on a non-business-critical drive with ample space (around 700 MB per day) and click **Next. **[[image:image-20241106084049-7.png]]

8 1. In the properties window, go to the **Schedule** tab.[[image:image-20241106084655-9.png]]
9 1. Click **Add**, set the **Start time** to 6:00 AM, and select all days, then click **OK**. [[image:image-20241106085026-11.png]]
10 1. Navigate to the **Stop Condition** tab. Check **Overall Duration**, set **Units** to **Hours**, and enter **17** to stop at 11 PM. Click **OK** to save settings. [[image:image-20241106090021-12.png]]

12 1. Go to the **folder** specified in **Step 6** to confirm that the data file is being created.  (% style="color:#c0392b" %)**If no file appears, check folder permissions to ensure the running account has create and write access.**
